Liverpool vs Arsenal
England – Carabao Cup
Date: Wednesday, 30 October 2019
Kick-off at 19:30 UK / 20:30 CET
Venue: Anfield (Liverpool)
Liverpool and Arsenal will meet for the second time this season when they clash in the Carabao Cup.
The Reds ran out 3-1 winners at Anfield in the Premier League in August.
Jurgen Klopp’s side were drawn against the Gunners following a routine 2-0 win at MK Dons in the Carabao Cup third round.
Arsenal, meanwhile, thrashed Nottingham Forest 5-0 at the Emirates in their third-round tie.
Liverpool and Arsenal last met in the League Cup back in 2009.
That game was also a fourth-round tie and the Gunners progressed with a 2-1 victory thanks to Nicklas Bendtner’s winner.
Tonight’s game kicks off at 7.30pm and fans can watch the action live on Sky Sports.
Liverpool vs Arsenal team news
Joel Matip will be out for six weeks after suffering a setback in his recovery from a knee injury, with Nathaniel Clyne and Xherdan Shaqiri also ruled out and Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk both doubtful.
Reiss Nelson is the only injury absentee for the guests, although they are expected to make a number of changes in a rotated line-up.
Liverpool vs Arsenal preview
The last EFL Cup meeting between this pair at this ground proved particularly memorable, with the Gunners running out 6-3 winners back in 2007.
Although it is obviously unrealistic to expect a similar scoreline, the visitors will at least back themselves to have some joy in front of goal after failing to score just once in 19 fixtures.
What’s more, Jurgen Klopp’s team has not looked particularly solid this campaign – keeping just three clean sheets in 16 matches in all competitions.
Liverpool possible starting lineup:
Adrian; Milner, Lovren, Gomez, Robertson; Oxlade-Chamberlain, Henderson, Keita; Lallana, Brewster, Origi
Arsenal possible starting lineup:
Martinez; Bellerin, Holding, Mustafi, Kolasinac; Torreira, Willock; Maitland-Niles, Ozil, Saka; Martinelli
