The UFC returns to Boston for UFC 292, which will feature a pair of title fights.
One of the main events features Aljamain Sterling defending his bantamweight title against Sean O’Malley.
In 2021, Sterling won the title after defeating T.J.Dillashaw, Henry Cejudo, and Petr Yan. He has now defended the championship three times, which is an unprecedented achievement in the division. He will look to extend his record against O’Malley, who has become a viral sensation.
In 2017, O’Malley made his debut through the televised promotion known as the Contender Series after knocking out Alfred Khashakyan with a highlight-reel punch. His meteoric rise caught the attention of Snoop Dogg, who then posted about him on his social media platforms. In October, he defeated Yan with a split-decision victory.
The co-main event features a strawweight title defense by Zhang Weili against Amanda Lemos.
Zhang won the title in 2019 after defeating Jessica Andrade. She then lost it to Rose Namajunas in 2021. She came back in November and submitted Carla Esparza to regain the championship. She’s hoping to continue her reign as the champion.
After defeating Marina Rodriguez and Michelle Waterson, Lemos earned herself a chance to challenge for the title.
