On Saturday, September 14, Caleb Plant and David Benavidez will square off in a pay-per-view bout that will feature a variety of compelling elements. The match-up features two men who have become increasingly dislikeful of each other.
This will be Benavidez’s toughest test to date, as he will be facing a boxer who is significantly better than his previous opponents. He will be looking to establish his pressure-first style and break down Plant, who is known for not being hit often.
Benavidez is currently riding a 24-game winning streak, with all of his victories coming via knockout. He has lost two world titles due to his own mistakes. In 2018, he was stripped of his WBC super-middleweight title after testing positive for drugs. Then, in 2020, he was stripped of his title again after failing to meet the weight requirements for his bout with Alexis Angulo.
