On Saturday, April 30, boxing fans are in for a treat. Not only will Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano face each other, but there will also be a super-featherweight unification event. Shakur Stevenson defends his WBO, WBC, and The Ring super-featherweight belts against Oscar Valdez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

In 2017, Stevenson made his professional debut. He won the WBO featherweight championship in 2019 against Joet Gonzalez, a silver medallist at the 2016 Olympics. After that, the 24-year-old moved up to super-featherweight. Stevenson defeated Jeremiah Nakathila for the interim WBO super-featherweight championship in June 2021.

Stevenson won the WBO title via TKO against Jamel Herring in October.

Valdez began his professional career in 2012. He began his professional career with 10 knockout victories. He won the WBO-NABO featherweight championship in 2016 then the WBO featherweight title a few months later after defeating Hiroshige Osawa. Valdez successfully defended his championship six times.

Valdez moved up to super-featherweight and won the WBC super-featherweight gold by knockout against Miguel Berchelt in February 2021. He last fought in September, when he successfully defended his title against Robson Conceicao.
