On May 14, Michael Conlan will be fighting for the IBF’s featherweight title against Luis Alberto Lopez at the Belfast’s The SSE Arena.
Conlan is coming off a loss to Leigh Wood, who defeated him for the WBA’s regular featherweight title. It occurred in the final round, and it was a shocking defeat as he was on the scorecards at that time. He was sent crashing through the ropes after Wood landed a punch.
After his loss, Conlan started to rebuild his career. He won two fights last year, defeating Miguel Marriaga and Karim Guerfi. He is now looking to become a world champion once again.
In December, Luis Alberto Lopez won the IBF’s featherweight championship by defeating Josh Warrington. Before this fight, he had only been known for beating Isaac Lowe in an eliminator. Now, he has to prove to the world that he is worthy of the title by fighting at Conlan’s home ground.
