Alexander Povetkin has been a top-10 heavyweight for the past decade. He’s 40 years old now, but he’s shown that he still has legitimate skills to be in the position to potentially spring an upset vs. Dillian Whyte on Saturday. Though Povetkin has only won once in his last three bouts and though he fell short during his two world title challenges, he still has power and he still has the technical acumen that brought him the Olympic gold medal 16 years ago.

Whyte vs Povetkin takes place on Saturday August 22 in the grounds of Matchroom’s headquarters in Brentwood, Essex.
The action is expected to get underway from 7pm with the the main event likely to be scheduled for around 10:30pm.
Fight prediction
Both men have been in wars over the years and each hold a knockout highlight reel that is as good as anyone else’s at the top of the division.
At 40 years of age, there is a question however of how many big performances Povetkin has left in the tank, pushed all the way by Hunter last time out.
It’s a tough fight to call given both men have the power to end the fight at any stage – we give it to Whyte via TKO in the late rounds.
