On June 10, 2023, Irene Aldana and Amanda Nunes will square off in a women’s Bantamweight bout at UFC 289, which will be held at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada.
In 2021, Amanda Nunes suffered her first loss in seven years after getting clubbed by Julianna Pena. After returning to the cage with great confidence and composure, she went after her opponent, pounding her down to the point where even her harshest critic could admit that her loss at UFC 269 was simply a bad night.
Since defeating Ketlen Vieira in 2019, Aldana has been eyeing a title shot. Unfortunately, her title aspirations were put on hold after she lost to Holly Holm. However, it was good to see her step in and fight for the injured Julianna Pena. She’s a dangerous striker who can potentially take down the best in the division in Amanda Nunes.
